Claire Scanlan

Operations Manager

Claire has over 30 years experience in the finance and business management fields and brings a wealth of knowledge to the First Peoples Wellness Circle. Claire has relocated to the Nipissing area and enjoys her home on Lake Nipissing. Claire is in the final stages of obtaining her Aboriginal Finance Management Certification (AFMC) and is looking forward to continuing her education.

Claire’s professional experience is diverse, with positions in human resources, finance, business administration, health, governance, and education. She feels fulfilled when serving the needs of the Indigenous community and has taken on roles of increasing significance and stature throughout her career. Now, she is focused on working with Indigenous organizations to create positive change. Most recently, Claire worked as the Finance Manager for the Anishinabek Education System to implement a historic agreement between Participating First Nations and Canada. The Anishinabek Nation Education Agreement is the largest sectoral self-government agreement of its kind in Canada. This project was immensely satisfying for Claire, and she discovered a strong passion for improving the future of health and education for Indigenous peoples. Claire has always had a passion for improving the lives of others and opened an energy healing practice in 2018 where she practices and teaches Reiki and IET.

Claire is delighted at the opportunity to focus her efforts at the national level, helping to improve Indigenous peoples’ lives by addressing health and wellness. She remains committed to Indigenous health and education and making the greatest impact she can with her skills. During her free time, Claire enjoys meditation, boating, spending time with family and friends and the outdoors.
