The Strength of Belonging: Supporting Wellness for Communities and Workforces
We are thrilled to share our 2024-2025 Annual Report, “The Strength of Belonging: Supporting Wellness for Communities and Workforces.” This report is a reflection of a year dedicated to our strategic priorities of Growth and Relationship, as we worked to enhance mental wellness in First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.
This past year, our work has focused on the importance of strengthening the wholistic well-being of the First Nation Mental Wellness Workforce (FNMWW). Their crucial role in communities and nations is at the heart of everything we do.

A Year of Action and Impact
Our journey over the past year was marked by several key initiatives and achievements that you will find detailed in this report. Some highlights include:
-
Knowledge & Resources: We created our Knowledge Exchange and Resource Sharing Hub and launched the Gathering Our Knowledge Bundles project. These resources provide the workforce with access to over 100 culturally relevant tools and materials to support their vital work.
-
New Voices & Perspectives: We developed the pihtikwê: Visits with First Nations Psychologists podcast series to share Indigenous Knowledge and evidence on topics such as trauma and substance use. We also created resources for parents and guardians to support children and youth, which are now available in 5 Indigenous languages.
-
Strengthening Our Network: As co-lead on the Secretariat and Implementation Team, we are a key part of the larger network implementing the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework. This work is amplified through new and existing partnerships, including formalizing our relationship with Feather Carriers and establishing our National Advisory Circle and a Ways of the Heart Youth Council.
-
Building for the Future: We are proud to announce that FPWC is now accredited by the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada. This will allow us to offer accredited training in the upcoming year, increasing the competencies of the FNMWW and ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality services.
Our Annual Report also shares our progress on many other projects and initiatives, such as the Telling Our Stories and Celebrating Our Successes Model for place-based monitoring and evaluation, our contributions to national tables on cultural safety and data sovereignty, and our continued efforts to influence policy and systems for the well-being of Indigenous peoples.
Thank you to our partners, stakeholders, and funders for your continued support. We invite you to explore our full report and see how we are working to create Hope, Belonging, Meaning, and Purpose for all.
