Jonathan Lin
Jonathan Lin is a health policy and research professional with a passion for advancing health equity through work focused on areas such as social determinants of health, climate change, and cultural safety. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at the University of British Columbia and went on to complete his Master of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, Jonathan is of Chinese descent and currently resides on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, known today as Surrey, BC. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys exploring the BC’s natural landscapes, watching films, and traveling.
Jonathan has worked in a diverse range of positions, including policy work at the federal and regional level of governments, as well as research work with academic and non-profit organizations. Social determinants of health and Indigenous wellness are a common thread in his work experiences. Past research work has included understanding the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Indigenous households across Canada, and thinking of ways to decolonize campus spaces to be culturally safer for Indigenous students, faculty, and staff. In his more recent experiences, Jonathan worked as a Junior Public Health Officer with the Public Health Agency of Canada. In this role, he drafted a population and public health framework for the Yukon’s health programs, as well as policy options for climate change adaptation within the territory.
Jonathan looks forward to working on policy projects related to First Nations wellness and supporting the broader work of FPWC.
