First Peoples Wellness Circle (FPWC) is an Indigenous-led national not-for-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of First Peoples in Canada by addressing healing, wellness, and mental wellness barriers. The organization’s purpose is to walk with and support First Peoples and communities to share collective intelligence for healing, peace-making, and living a good life. FPWC’s approach is centred on promoting wellness pathways based on traditional knowledge and culture that supports healing and wellness and fosters a two-eyed seeing approach. FPWC envisions a nation where our First Peoples experience wholistic health and wellness by championing diverse cultural values, beliefs, and practices.

FPWC’s new strategic plan encompasses four main objectives: Growth, The Framework, Relationships, and Collective Intelligence. Through these objectives, we seek to build relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations and build workforce capacity by sharing collective intelligence and implementing the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework. The FPWC works diligently to advocate for transformative change, aiming to create wellness and whole health pathways for Canada’s First Peoples shaped by diverse Indigenous cultural lenses and knowledge.

 

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a National Implementation Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will lead the coordination and implementation of the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework at the national level. Working collaboratively with regional coordinators, partners, and the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation, you will support workforce capacity and drive strategic, culturally grounded initiatives that enhance mental wellness outcomes for First Nations communities across Canada.

This is a full-time remote position within Canada, working 37.5 hours per week.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the national implementation of the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework (FNMWCF).
  • Collaborate with regional coordinators across five regions to support mental wellness efforts.
  • Partner with Thunderbird Partnership Foundation to design and execute strategies for regional capacity-building.
  • Ensure alignment between FPWC, Thunderbird, and community stakeholders to meet mental wellness needs.
  • Coordinate meetings and act as a resource to the Implementation Team and FNMWCF Secretariat.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies, including website content related to FNMWCF.
  • Collect and disseminate information from First Nation and government partners.
  • Provide guidance on resource and tool development aligned with the FNMWCF.
  • Support key tasks, committee work, and the advancement of FPWC’s Secretariat responsibilities.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Proven experience in project design and implementation, particularly at a national level.
  • Familiarity with working across jurisdictions and with diverse stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of First Nation mental wellness needs and priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Integration of Two-Eyed Seeing in approach to work.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic thinking, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective facilitation and relationship-building skills.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences required; Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Indigenous/First Nation communities, nonprofit organizations, or government agencies.
