First Peoples Wellness Circle (FPWC) is an Indigenous-led national not-for-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of First Peoples in Canada by addressing healing, wellness, and mental wellness barriers. The organization’s purpose is to walk with and support First Peoples and communities to share collective intelligence for healing, peace-making, and living a good life. FPWC’s approach is centred on promoting wellness pathways based on traditional knowledge and culture that supports healing and wellness and fosters a two-eyed seeing approach. FPWC envisions a nation where our First Peoples experience wholistic health and wellness by championing diverse cultural values, beliefs, and practices.
FPWC’s new strategic plan encompasses four main objectives: Growth, The Framework, Relationships, and Collective Intelligence. Through these objectives, we seek to build relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations and build workforce capacity by sharing collective intelligence and implementing the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework. The FPWC works diligently to advocate for transformative change, aiming to create wellness and whole health pathways for Canada’s First Peoples shaped by diverse Indigenous cultural lenses and knowledge.
Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Research, Evaluation & Policy Support Officer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in research, program evaluation, and policy work—especially within Indigenous health or social service settings. You will contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of initiatives that support the mental wellness and trauma-informed workforce.
This is a remote position within Canada, working 37.5 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
- Support implementation activities aligned with FPWC’s strategic objectives and workforce development.
- Collaborate across the Policy, Evaluation, Research and Communication team and with other FPWC staff.
- Conduct data collection, analysis, and synthesis related to mental wellness programs.
- Contribute to research, evaluation, and policy development activities.
- Write, edit, and prepare literature reviews and project proposals.
- Assist in preparing project budgets and financial tracking documents.
- Draft project materials and resource tools, ensuring alignment with Indigenous knowledge and cultural approaches.
- Coordinate and document internal and external meetings, including scheduling and minute-taking.
- Maintain up-to-date awareness of First Nation national mental wellness frameworks and initiatives.
- Provide day-to-day administrative and project coordination support.

- Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mental health, health, education, or social sciences (Master’s level studies an asset).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant research, evaluation, or policy experience, ideally within Indigenous and/or nonprofit contexts.
- At least 3 years of experience in program or project coordination.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental wellness services in First Nation communities.
- Experience working with or in Indigenous/First Nations communities is a strong asset.
- Indigenous language proficiency is an asset.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and private home office setup.
