Indian Residential School (IRS) Resolution Health Support and Cultural Support Program Stories

In collaboration with an RHSP working group consisting of representatives from coast to coast to coast, FPWC was tasked to document the work, benefits and impacts of the RHSP by completing a qualitative assessment of the program.

FPWC collected survivor reports to inform this assessment. A storytelling approach allowed the team to learn directly from the survivors’ experiences, while ensuring that safety was always the top priority, as survivors recounted traumatic events. The overall goal of the assessment was to gain a better understanding of the role of RHSP services in survivors’ healing journeys, and to better understand what is needed to support survivors and their families in the future.

The IRS RHSP Qualitative Assessment was completed in November 2021. Two versions of the final report documenting the approach and findings from the qualitative assessment are available here:
