A Cultural Safety Resource for Supporting the Mental Wellness Workforce
The Introduction to First Nations Mental Wellness resource, created by First Peoples Wellness Circle (FPWC), is available for use by Mental Wellness Teams (MWTs), specialized Indigenous Wellness Workforces, and those working in mental wellness capacities across Canada. This resource is intended to provide important and foundational information on First Nations mental wellness in an accessible and concise format. It also aims to support MWTs and other Indigenous Wellness Workforces in sharing information with local, provincial, and federal partners.
The resource is guided by the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework, presents additional resources to support learning and community engagement, and encourages reflection and life-long learning throughout.
The development of the Introduction to First Nations Mental Wellness resource was guided by a group of existing mental wellness team members from across the country. Through their generous sharing of their knowledge, lived experience, and resources, the contents of this resource are informed by the lens of those who support mental wellness in communities across what is now known as Canada.
